Filnet to Accept Purchase Card Payments
Alexandria, VA, June 2, 2006-Today Filnet, a data integrity and information technology (IT) firm, announces that it will immediately begin to accept government purchase card payments from government organizations. The General Services Administration initiated the federal government purchase card program in 1998 to streamline the procurement of services and products that are considered to be “simplified acquisitions.”
“Federal purchase cards shorten the procurement cycle and reduce expenses government organizations incur when processing purchase orders,” says Filnet President/CEO Chris J. Government purchase cards are used in the same way as credit cards. Since the introduction of purchase cards, more and more government agencies are using these “credit cards” to buy a host of items and solutions such as medical supplies, staff augmentation services and information technology solutions. An estimated quarter of million federal employees have government purchase cards. While most often used for so-called “micro purchases” up to $2,500, authorized purchase card holders also may charge goods and services up to $100,000. All federal purchase card charges or transactions, however, must be in full compliance with the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR).
